The interview
What is your professional background and vision for patient care?
My name is Eleina Mikhaylov, I live in Austin, Texas and I'm a neurologist. I see a comprehensive approach at healing, focusing on not just the body but also mind and spirit. I want to see treatment being more focused on preventing the illness and not trying to fix the illness, rather than providing symptomatic relief for an existing disease, trying to actually fix it.
How do you see your role as a provider evolving?
I see myself being a provider, seeing patients, taking their intake, trying to figure out what's going on with their body and mind as well as spirit. I want to hear their journeys to try to figure out what would be the right protocol for that particular client and customizing it, referring them to other specialists that can help them, and implementing a long term protocol for them.
What was your experience attending the Modern Holistic Health conference?
This conference has been so informative. I've learned so many things. I mean, being a traditional medicine practitioner thus far, did not have a lot of knowledge of what the functional medicine looks like, just heard little bits and pieces. But now, getting a lot of information in terms of lab work and how comprehensive it is and they touched on supplements and creating the right protocols for patients.
How has this experience impacted your motivation?
I also found this course very motivating, very inspiring. I feel so much more empowered by this. I feel like now I have a momentum to move forward to transition my practice, traditional practice, into functional. This weekend has been incredible. I'm really, really excited. I feel like finally I can make a difference.
What did you think of the community and collaborators involved?
Having this set of collaborators that Eleina put together was incredible. I feel like I have a family and it's nice to have this type of support, navigating through different areas and have guidance from all these incredible entrepreneurs. They're not only very experienced, they have years of experience but they also of high integrity and are passionate about what they do.
