The interview
What made you join MPA Home Loans?
What made me join MPA was actually a manager, Jake Garza, who was recruiting at the time, and posted on social media what the goals and values of MPA were, and it aligned with what my goals and values are. So I decided to contact him, and I've been with MPA since almost day 1. I was, like, employee number 3 or 4.
What was your career background before joining the mortgage industry?
My career before MPA was... I was actually a teacher. I was a world history teacher for 10th grade. I did that for about a year and a half before I decided to take a different turn in my career. At this time I happened to stumble upon somebody that was hiring a loan processor. So I actually learned how to process loans before becoming a loan officer.
How did you transition into becoming a loan officer?
After about 2 years of being a loan processor for that person, I decided to go off on my own and joined broker world, and got my license as a loan officer.
What were you looking for in a company that you hadn't found elsewhere?
What I was looking for in a company that I wasn't finding before was the team atmosphere without the micromanaging of being on a team, or being in the retail world when it comes to mortgage lending.
How would you describe your experience and the company culture so far?
My experience so far has been wonderful. The company aligns with my goals and values. Ever since I've joined MPA, it's been nothing but consistently going upwards. What stands out to me the most about MPA is the culture. It is more of a family atmosphere versus a corporate world job.
What would you tell other loan officers considering joining MPA?
I would recommend MPA to other loan officers because of the goals and values of the company, as well as the culture and atmosphere of our team. I've been with other companies in the past, and MPA is striving and going above and beyond to continue growing as a company and improving. We're very innovative and that's what I like in a mortgage company.
