The interview

Can you introduce yourself and your relationship with Dr. Jill?

My name is Jennifer Tanner. I live in West Alaska, and I recently became a nurse. My story with Dr. Jill goes way back; I actually met her when I was about twenty-five years old when she was working at Capstone. I just liked her immediately because she's so personable, kind, patient, and she listens to you.

What led you to follow her to Now Health?

I really didn't have any health issues at twenty-five, so it was just follow-ups or annuals. But then I just continued to see her, and when she opened her own business, I ran into her because I had lost her for a little bit. I went to Now Health and I've been with her ever since.

How would you describe the patient experience at Now Health?

It's been great having her as my primary healthcare doctor. I never feel rushed. I have lots of time to spend with Jill, and we talk about lots of things, not just what's going on with my health, but what's going on with my family and my kids. I feel that she really takes the time to just download, which you don't always find at every doctor's office.

What was the specific health challenge Dr. Jill helped you overcome?

I ended up having some really bad back issues. Because of my age and being an athletic person, I really couldn't get anyone to believe that I was having all these chronic back pain issues. To have somebody dive deeper and order the imaging for me to really start building that portfolio of what I needed to get the help I needed—it saved me because I lived about six years in just chronic back pain.

How has your health changed since receiving treatment?

I just can't thank her enough for keeping at it with me so I could finally regain my health. Now that I'm in my mid-forties, we're working through premenopausal type things. I feel much better today. I'm back to doing all the things I used to love to do, like skiing in the winter and playing with my kids. I couldn't even do any of those things for so long.

Why would you recommend Now Health to others?

I would recommend Now Health to anyone who wants a doctor that will take time to get to know you as a person and wants to take that long journey with you. She is willing to do the deep dive and research it. She loves to stay up on the education and the new findings, and I feel like that's what you really need in a doctor.

Frequently asked

Will a doctor believe my chronic pain if I am young and athletic?

Jen Tanner found that while other providers dismissed her issues due to her age and athletic build, Dr. Jill at Now Health believed her and performed a deep dive. She ordered the necessary imaging to build a portfolio for the help Jen required after six years of suffering.

Does Now Health offer personalized time with the doctor?

Yes, Jen Tanner notes that she never feels rushed and has 'lots of time' to spend with Dr. Jill. They discuss not only her physical health but also her family and personal life, which Jen feels is rare in typical doctor's offices.

How does Now Health stay current on medical research?

According to Jen Tanner, Dr. Jill is committed to continuous education and staying up-to-date on new findings. Dr. Jill once mentioned that if being a student were a career, she would choose it, which Jen believes is a vital quality in a healthcare provider.
