The interview

What is a common struggle for parents regarding family meals?

One area where parents struggle is trying to find healthy recipes that the whole family resonate with. What I loved about Prep Dish was that there were a variety of different diets that were accommodated there and that we could follow, with food that even my children really enjoyed.

How has Prep Dish changed your daily routine and delegation?

The best about Prep Dish is that I can very easily delegate to my husband. To be able to hand him a list and send him to the store, knowing he's going to come home with exactly what we need to make dinner for the whole week—and every evening knows exactly what to do. All of those little details that otherwise I would be coordinating and I would be writing lists and I would be delegating.

Why do you prefer Prep Dish over other meal services?

My family has tried all the different services out there. We've had ingredients sent to our house, we've had prepared meals dropped off at our house. What I really like about Prep Dish is being able to ensure the quality of ingredients that I want. If I want to go get wild salmon, I can. If I want to go get all organic stuff, I can do that.

What was the unexpected benefit of using the service?

So, what I thought I was getting was kind of the time savings but what I've really gotten is just, like, fully hiring, like, a house manager to handle all of the food decisions around dinners at our house.

How do you handle the actual food preparation?

Prep Dish gives you so much flexibility in terms of when you want to prep, how much you want to prep for the week ahead of time—if you even want to do prep. Honestly, in my family, mostly, we do all the work the day of. But it's all mapped out so that we know what steps to do.

What is your current family dinner structure?

I still really like the structure of having four dinners and one night for leftovers, so that's what my family has been doing for the last few years.

Frequently asked

How does Prep Dish compare to prepared meal delivery services?

Kathryn noted that unlike prepared meal services, Prep Dish allows her to ensure the quality of ingredients, such as choosing wild salmon or organic items, while providing the flexibility to switch recipes from archives.
