The interview
What was your marketing process like before using Share One?
I realized that what I always leave on the back burner, what I always leave until last is frankly my own marketing, which is really saying something because I own a marketing company. And so what I never did was ask my clients to record their experience of what it was like working with us.
Why did you decide to try Share One?
I thought, wow, it could take a lot of the minutiae off the plate where I can get really thorough testimonials posted on our portfolio immediately and with minimal action for me. It conveys credibility and the heart of what we do in people's experience, which makes for efficient conversion.
How did your discovery call with Dan and Stacey change your perspective?
We were exploring what ways testimonials and personalized stories can help build the business beyond just me posting them on our LinkedIn or website. What we brainstormed was a kind of gift for my clients using the Share One service. A cherry on top or a kicker of working with us can be getting this gift from us to our clients, which rolls out the website, highlights who they are, and edifies their mission.
What happens after you give the Share One video to a client?
The client is often inspired to then post that on their LinkedIn or send it on their email. And in fact, we give them swipe copy to go ahead and make that easy for them. And so it ends up being this ripple effect and proliferation of visibility for my business.
Can you share a specific success story from using this service?
When I actually gave this gift to one of my clients, they were blown away. They actually emailed it out to their list during a merger that they happened to have at the end of our web build and marketing process. That yielded a lot of great feedback for us and has opened up a lot of sales conversations for future work.
How has Share One impacted your work in the venture capital industry?
It tends to be an industry where trust is a really important thing because there's a lot of SEC compliance. Having gone through a capital raise company and given this gift, they were able to share it directly with another partner that they have, which then we got a referral from that. It was a way that created a medial transfer of trust.
Frequently asked
How can I find time for marketing when I'm busy running a business?
Jaclyn Gruber noted that she often left her own marketing on the back burner because of the 'minutiae' involved. Share One solved this by taking the manual work off her plate, allowing for thorough testimonials to be posted to her portfolio immediately with minimal action required from her.
Can video testimonials help in highly regulated industries like venture capital?
Yes, according to Jaclyn Gruber, trust is critical in venture capital due to SEC compliance. By using Share One to highlight a client's mission, the video created a 'transfer of trust' that led directly to a referral from a partner who viewed the content.
How do you get clients to actually share their video testimonials?
Jaclyn Gruber found that by framing the Share One video as a 'gift' that celebrates the client's new website or strategy, clients were inspired to share it. Providing them with 'swipe copy' further simplified the process, creating a ripple effect of visibility.
