The interview

Before Speakeasy, what kind of felt missing in your business or other masterminds?

When I moved to Playa Del Carmen in 2021, I always had a yearning for a mastermind or a group that I can talk business with and a group that's really into growth. Because I have an online business, I always sought out the top marketing strategies, what's new in the market, and what's going on with AI. It was challenging to find those conversations because it's a very diverse city. Before Speakeasy, I would have to attend conferences all the time and be very active in Facebook groups.

Was there anything you were unsure or uneasy about before joining?

The person who brought Speakeasy to me is a person I really trust, Kate Buck Jr., who is an icon in the social media world. When she said this group contains some of the smartest minds in digital marketing and online business, I was at ease. The more time I spend with the community, the more motivated I am to give back. These people are also very humble and generous with their knowledge, so it felt like home pretty fast.

What surprised you the most about being a member of Speakeasy Mastermind?

I always came into masterminds with a certain ROI calculator in my head. When I joined Speakeasy, I just turned off that ROI calculator because people were just so nice and they give a lot. It motivated me to be more open to other people's learning and life experience. I like that there are people more mature than me in terms of age and business experience; I became more of a sponge and felt I had nothing to prove.

Was there a meaningful shift in your business or how you operate that was a win for you?

The focus is really on digital marketing. I am a member of other masterminds that have very diverse businesses, but here, I started to learn and welcome different ideologies and ways to market my business and my clients' businesses. I no longer operate in a vacuum. I used to have a lot of beliefs that only organic social content would make a business grow, but being around these smart people opened my eyes to the nuances of what really works.

If another founder asked if Speakeasy is worth it, what would you tell them?

Honestly, Speakeasy is definitely worth it. It's worth it two or three times over the membership fee. Because Speakeasy has a local flavor, you have access to some of the smartest minds in online business in your city. Even if you don't get direct clients, having access to people who will critique your sales page or give honest opinions on leadership problems with no ulterior motive is definitely worth it.

Frequently asked

She emphasizes that even without direct client acquisition, the ability to have experts critique sales pages or leadership problems is invaluable.

What kind of marketing expertise is available in Speakeasy Mastermind?

Karla highlighted that the group focuses heavily on digital marketing. Being around these experts helped her shift from a vacuum of organic social content to welcoming diverse ideologies and nuanced strategies that work for her specific business and her clients.

Full transcript

Speaker 0: Hi, I'm Carla Sing Son. I live in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and I'm the founder and CEO of Proximity Outsourcing. We place top tier talent from The Philippines and Latin America, and we serve a lot of agencies and fast growing online businesses. Speaker 1: Perfect. Perfect. So before Speakeasy, what kind of felt missing in your business or other masterminds? So even if things were going well. Speaker 0: Yeah. So when I moved to Playa Del Carmen in 2021, Mexico, I always had a yearning for a mastermind or a group that I can talk business with and a group that's really into growth. And because I have an online business, I always sought out like the top marketing strategies, what's new in the market, like what's going on with AI. And it was just pretty challenging to find those conversations because it's a very diverse city. So before Speakeasy, I would have to attend conferences all the time, be very, very active in Facebook groups and in other like communities. But now that I have Speakeasy and I have a chapter right here in my city, I have my little corner of the world where I can talk business with my friends who also live in the same town and also carry the same kind of playa culture of being into health, wellness and all the good things that come with living near the beach. Speaker 1: So Speaker 0: something that I was unsure about or maybe I was uneasy about, I think before I got introduced to some of the leaders in Speakeasy, the person who brought Speakeasy to me is a person I really trust. It was one of my best friends, Kate Buck Jr, who a lot of people know is an icon basically in the social media world. And, when she said that this is a great group, this group contains some of the smartest minds in digital marketing and in online business, I was an ECS. I trusted her. And the more time I spend with the community, the more motivated I am also to give more to the community with my little expertise, my little business. And, it's also a great place to just, kind of, like, learn from the best. But these people are also the other thing that also made it nice and easy is that these people are also very humble and very generous with their knowledge. So it felt like home pretty fast and, yeah, I love it here. Speaker 1: Awesome. Awesome. So what surprised you the most about being a member of Speedy Mastermind? Speaker 0: What surprised me the most about being a member? This is very like internal to me, I guess, in a kind of a personal journey. But all throughout the years of being a member of different masterminds, I always came into masterminds with a certain ROI calculator in my head. And, when I joined Speakeasy, and I guess it also has a lot to do with where I am in my life, I just I just turned off that ROI calculator because people were just so nice and because they also give a lot, it motivated me to give a lot more. But at the same time, it also motivated me to be more open, to other people's like, like whatever they're giving in terms of like learning and knowledge and life experience. I do like that there are a lot of people in Speakeasy that are more mature than me in terms of like age and experience in business. And so I really like it. And so, I guess that's what surprised me the most. It's like I became more of a sponge and I felt like I had nothing to prove, but also that I was more motivated to give even though I still feel very like small around a lot of people, but I knew that I could like, there's something that I can give and contribute to the group. Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great. So tell Speaker 0: me a meaningful shift. I know Speaker 1: that was kind of a shift, but was there anything in your business or how you operate that was just a win for you? Speaker 0: Yeah. I guess one special thing that I noticed with the members of Speakeasy is that the focus is really on digital marketing. So I am a member of other masterminds that have very diverse businesses, but, and even very diverse online businesses. But when you say like digital marketing, it's like one thing, one part of of an online business. And so I started to learn and even welcome different ideologies and different ways to market my business and the businesses of my clients. I guess if I learned something new, I would share it with them. And so one shift that I noticed is that I became more open to different strategies. I no longer operate on a vacuum on what one strategy works for me. Like, I'm I'm huge into content and I'm huge into, like, organic social content. And I used to have a lot of beliefs that were like, oh, only this thing will make your business grow. But then when I joined Speakeasy, like I said, being around so many smart people in digital marketing, it opened my eyes to a lot of other, like, strategies and the nuances of really, like, what works for your business. Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely. So if Speaker 0: another founder actually ever asked, Speaker 1: is Speakeasy worth it? What would you honestly tell them? Speaker 0: Honestly, the Speakeasy is definitely worth it. It's worth it two or three times over, the membership fee, honestly. Because I always tell people because Speakeasy has a local flavor, you know, you the other members are in your city. You have access to some of the smartest minds in online business in your city. And even if you don't ask anything of them, even if you don't get direct clients from them or from the group, the fact that you have access to these people is is good enough for me, especially. It's kind of like an insurance that if I need something or if I need a quick, like, look over, if I need, like, a a small group of smart people who will give my sales page, like, comments or, like, critique what I'm doing, or if I have if I run into a problem with like my leadership and I just need like honest opinions from people that I'm not paying or have no ulterior motive, that access is definitely worth That's Speakeasy to me. And whenever I describe what it's like to be part of a Speakeasy chapter, it's not just a school community or a circle community. It's like real people in your city that can also relate to whatever is happening in your local community. Thank you. Speaker 1: So first, do I have your permission yeah. Sorry. Think there's a little bit of a delay. So in case I talk over you, that's fine. So do I have your permission to use those responses for marketing purposes or speak to the master Mastermind and ShareOne? Speaker 0: Yeah, for sure. And if you want me to do it again with makeup, please tell me. I'm happy to do it again. Speaker 1: Awesome. Most appreciate your your willingness. And then if you just wanna give a good smile into that camera. Speaker 0: Okay. Screenshot for little bit now. Speaker 1: Perfect. Perfect. Alright.
