The interview

Why did you decide to return to the Summit of Love for a second time?

We decided to come back because we had such huge breakthroughs the first time. The first time we came, we thought we were a really good couple but were stagnating a little bit. It had us come alive and really raised our expectations of who we could be together.

How did this second experience compare to your first time attending?

We came in with low expectations because we had made such breakthroughs before and were coming off a really good year. Yet, we found even more amazing connection and more ideas for deepening that connection. It's been an absolute multiplier for our relationship.

Did you find the repeated exercises valuable?

Even the exercises we did last time felt different this time because we were coming at them from a different place. Some of them landed differently. David was more resistant the first time, thinking it was 'woo-woo,' but this time we leaned in and it was very meaningful.

What was your biggest individual takeaway from this session?

Annie's biggest takeaway was being more in touch with her own body. She realized that by doing so, she can show up way better for David, which she had never thought about before.

How would you describe the progression of your relationship through these retreats?

Last time was about getting our mojo back. This time, it's like we know we're a sexy couple and we're going to be even more in love. It's bringing the relationship to a new level.

What do you think of the facilitators, Annie and Evan?

Evan and Annie are super dynamic as a teaching pair. They are true, incredible experts at what they do. Everything is flexible but they don't miss the must-have high points. They also have the genius to bring in other experts to present on their specific areas of expertise.

What would you say to a couple contemplating joining the Summit of Love?

If you're a committed couple or want to become more strongly committed, there's no way you can come and not have it feel well worth it. If you want to be closer and feel more in love but aren't sure how to get there, this is a can't-miss.

Frequently asked

Is the Summit of Love too 'woo-woo' for skeptical partners?

David admitted he was initially resistant because he thought the retreat might be 'a little more woo-woo' than he wanted. However, after leaning into the experience, he found it to be sweet, nice, and deeply meaningful for them as a couple.

Is it worth attending the Summit of Love more than once?

Yes, Annie and David found that returning a second time allowed them to 'dive deep quick' because they were already familiar with the environment and other high-quality couples. Even repeating the same exercises felt different and better because they were approaching them from a new place in their relationship.

What is the environment like at the Summit of Love retreat?

Annie describes the retreat house as spectacular and gorgeous. It is located on a hilltop with oak trees, providing a setting where the light through the leaves creates a beautiful atmosphere for connection.

Full transcript

Speaker 1: So, this is our second time at the Summit of Love, and we decided to come back because we had such huge breakthroughs the first time we came. And the first time we came, we kind of thought we were, like, a really good couple, but kinda, I don't know, stagnating a little bit. And it just had us come alive as a couple and really raise our expectations of who we could be together. Speaker 2: Yeah, and then imagine, so then we signed up for the second time, coming in really with low expectations we had made such breakthroughs before and coming off a really good year together. And yet again, here we are with more Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 2: and more amazing connection and more ideas for deepening that connection after we leave. So, it's been amazing. Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been just an absolute multiplier for our relationship. So, there were some new things that I thought were fantastic, but I also wanna say that even the exercises we did last time, this time they felt different. Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Speaker 1: Like, 'cause we were coming at them from a different place. Speaker 2: Some of them landed differently too. Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 2: Like, I was, I don't know, I think maybe I was more resistant the first time. It seemed like it might be a little more woo-woo than I wanted to sign up for, so I might've been a little more resistant. You know, this time we just kinda leaned into the little bit of woo-woo and it ended up being really sweet and nice and meaningful for us as a couple. Speaker 1: Yeah. So, my biggest takeaway this time is actually being more in touch with my own body. And in that way, I can show up way better for David. And I never thought about it that way. But it's a big deal. Speaker 2: And to say I'm a little bit excited about that is an understatement. Yeah, this has been a lot more fun than the first time. Speaker 1: This time, it's like we know we're a sexy couple sort of, we're gonna be even more in love. Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Speaker 1: And last time, it was sorta like gettin' our mojo back. And now it's like bringing it to a new level. Coming back the second time to the Summit of Love, I first wanna say, like, I love this retreat house, like it's spectacular. And the setting is gorgeous, you're on a hilltop and the oak trees and the light coming through the leaves of the oak tree, it's spectacular. Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Speaker 1: So I was already looking forward to that. But coming in, it just felt like, oh, this is cool. Like, I, you know, I didn't think it could be as good as the first time, but it was a little more familiar, so like I could get into the groove faster Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Speaker 1: ... just make friends faster. It was great. Speaker 2: You, you know what was nice too is we didn't really know anyone the first time. We knew Annie and Evan little bit, but we hadn't met some of the other couples. And to some of those same couples from the last ... be here Speaker 1: yeah. Speaker 2: All of a sudden there was, some of the, the first day of kinda getting to know each other, feeling safe enough to share and all that, it was kinda gone this time. It Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 2: There were several: Speaker 3: We dove deep quick. Speaker 2: Yeah, there were several new couples and they were wonderful to have exposure to and to kind Speaker 1: I know. Speaker 2: ... usher into this whole experience. But to, to be able to reconnect with people that we had grown to trust the last time made it possible for us to actually experience every Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaker 2: ... fully, yeah. Speaker 1: And they're such high-quality couples. Like I, you know, I know that might be a weird way to say it, but that's true. They're such high-quality couples. Evan and Annie are super dynamic as a teaching pair. Everything is flexible, but like really not missing the must-have high points. I mean, they are true experts at what they do. Incredible experts. And it's never boring, 'cause even if you're gonna do a similar exercise, like, the way they set it up, kind of the how you're gonna do the takeaways this time, it's different and better. It's like each time feels a little better. They are really good at what they do. And I also think that 1 of their geniuses is that they know what they do super well and they bring in people to do a few things that are those couple's genius Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Speaker 1: to present, which have Speaker 2: Those amazing. Speaker 1: fantastic. Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. So I'm gonna say if you, if you're contemplating coming to the Summit of Love and you're a committed couple or a couple that wants to become more strongly committed, there's no way you can come and not have it feel like it was well worth it. Speaker 1: If you've ever had the thought, like, "I really want to be closer and feel more in love with my partner," and just weren't quite sure how to get there, maybe you've tried some things and it hasn't worked all that great, like, this has been amazing. it's kind of a can't miss. Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Speaker 1: And so I just, you know, I've already talked to all my friends, I want them all to do it, and and we're gonna keep comin' back.
