The interview

Can you introduce yourself and describe your experience with Compass SE?

Hi, my name is Ramses, and I'm shooting this video because about five years ago, I was looking for a property in the Pacific Palisades. After working with Compass SE I found our dream home here in the Palisades overlooking the ocean. And I have to say it's been a great experience working with Compass and the reason for that is because they just made it easy, going through the process of purchasing the home, going through inspections, working with other brokers.

What is it like working with Susan Stark specifically?

Susan Stark does great work, she's user friendly, you never feel like you're bothering her when you call her doesn't matter what time of the day or night, she's on top of it, she does her research so she knows exactly what homes are selling for in the community that you're selling, she knows exactly what homes are selling for in the community that you're trying to go buy in.

How is Susan Stark perceived by the real estate community?

Whenever I am going and looking at open houses and she's not around and they ask, who's your broker? And we mention her name 100% of the time everyone says, Susan's the best, she's great you're in good hands. So hearing that from competitors is a big deal for us. So not only is she personally a great person but professionally she's great and extremely well respected in the community here in southern California.

How does Compass SE handle the complexities of buying and selling?

They just know their business, they know the pockets of Los Angeles, they know what houses should be going, whether you're selling or whether you're buying. They just make it easy, they make the whole process easy from the beginning to the end and there's always going to be hiccups, there's always going to be issues if you're selling when they're doing inspections there may be issues that arise and they always smooth it over, they always figure out ways to make it fair for both parties.

Where did you live before moving to your dream home?

Before landing my dream home my life was in Westwood, actually near UCLA in a little area there called Little Holmby and we had a nice home there and before that we had a home also in Little Holmby where we raised our children from grade school until middle school.

What real estate advice would you give to others?

The advice I would give someone going from the current home that they're in they should stretch, they should really try to stretch as much as they can and buy as expensive of a home as possible in a great area because chances are especially here in southern California it will appreciate over time and that will afford you to then have equity in your home, so that when you go buy your dream home you will be able to sell it at a big profit.

What makes your current house a 'dream home'?

What makes my dream home a home is the location. You know, we live in the Pacific Palisades, we're close to the village, the neighbor feeling, it's a real true neighborhood which is kind of how I grew up in Michigan. We obviously the house is a beautiful house, we have a view of the ocean. I can see Catalina island right now as we speak and it's just, it's paradise.

What is your favorite room in the house?

My favorite room in the home is our bedroom. We have a beautiful fireplace and a mantle with the tv on top but it also overlooks the backyard with the pool, the jacuzzi, but also has some of the best views of the ocean where on a clear day you can see Catalina and you can see Palos Verdes and the Malibu Peninsula.

Hi, my name is Ramses, and I'm shooting this video because about five years ago, I was looking for a property in the Pacific Palisades. And I have to say it's been a great experience working with Compass and the reason for that is because they just made it easy, going through the process of purchasing the home, going through inspections, working with other brokers. It was just a pleasure. there was no drama, there were no issues and if there were minor issues that came up they were alleviated very quickly by Compass SE. Highly recommend working with them. What I also like about her is whenever I am going and looking at open houses and she's not around and they ask, who's your broker? And we mention her name 100% of the time everyone says, Susan's the best, she's great you're in good hands. So hearing that from competitors is a big deal for us. So not only is she personally a great person but professionally she's great and extremely well respected in the community here in southern California. I recommend compass SE because they again like I was saying earlier user friendly but also they just know their business, they know the pockets of Los Angeles, they know what houses should be going, whether you're selling or whether you're buying. They just make it easy, they make the whole process easy from the beginning to the end and there's always going to be hiccups, there's always going to be issues if you're selling when they're doing inspections there may be issues that arise and they always smooth it over, they always figure out ways to make it fair for both parties. Same thing when we're selling there's always things that arise as well and we've been on both sides, we've been a seller and a buyer and I have to say working with Compass and specifically Susan Stark has been great in that sense. Before landing my dream home my life was in Westwood, actually near UCLA in a little area there called Little Holmby and we had a nice home there and before that we had a home also in Little Holmby where we raised our children from grade school until middle school. The advice I would give someone going from the current home that they're in they should stretch, they should really try to stretch as much as they can and buy as expensive of a home as possible in a great area because chances are especially here in southern California it will appreciate over time and that will afford you to then have equity in your home, so that when you go buy your dream home you will be able to sell it at a big profit and take that money and put a down payment or completely pay for the dream home but my recommendation and my advice would be is to stretch which is the advice that was given to me and that's what I did. Well, what makes my dream home a home is the location. You know, we live in the Pacific Palisades, we're close to the village, The neighbor feeling, it's a real true neighborhood which is kind of how I grew up in Michigan we obviously the house is a beautiful house, we have a view of the ocean. I can see Catalina island right now as we speak and it's just, it's paradise and we live in paradise I just am so fortunate that we live in the Palisades. Well, whenever you have any type of real estate whether it's residential, whether it's commercial or in this case multifamily it's always a good thing with land appreciation you hold on to it long enough, you're hoping that when you sell or when you give it to your kids they can either run the properties and earn money that way from rents or they sell and when they sell, they'll earn, they'll get that appreciation for the decades that we've owned it. My favorite room in the home is our bedroom. We have a beautiful fireplace and a mantle with the tv on top but it also overlooks the backyard with the pool, the jacuzzi, but also has some of the best views of the ocean where on a clear day you can see Catalina and you can see Palos Verdes and the Malibu Peninsula, so I would say it's the master bedroom. The one thing I must have to consider this a home would be an amazing great room where it's the kitchen and the family room and it's where when we have holidays we all converge around it, that's the most important part of the home for me.
