The interview
What was your life like before consulting with Dr. Robert Whitfield?
My life before meeting him was just a lot of health issues. A lot of feeling down, a lot of anxiety and depression, and just feeling like I will never get answers from anyone. I saw a lot of different doctors and specialists and I just felt sick all the time, every day. I was calling out of work because I was in bed and missing out on family parties, gatherings, and trips.
What specific symptoms were you dealing with?
I had a long list including chronic fatigue, chronic inflammation, brain fog, memory loss, GI issues like gas and bloating, and hormonal issues. My husband and I were trying to get pregnant without luck. I also had swelling, decreased libido, shortness of breath, dehydration, liver congestion, declining vision, and extremely dry eyes, mouth, and skin.
Why did you choose Dr. Whitfield over other surgeons you consulted?
I consulted with three surgeons. The first one you don't even meet until the day before surgery. The second had a long waitlist and I didn't feel comfortable. I did two consultations with Dr. Whitfield and he spent so much time talking with me; I didn't feel rushed. He has a holistic approach and a unique HARP program that involves a functional practitioner for detoxing.
How did the HARP program and the BII team support your recovery?
The recovery process has been phenomenal. He has an app where you have full access to everyone on the team to message questions or upload photos. The HARP program gives you a guide on how to detox, lifestyle changes, and nutrition changes. I felt at ease knowing I was working with a functional practitioner pre and post explant.
How do you feel now, two months after your surgery?
I feel like a new person and I feel like myself again. My energy has improved, my skin has improved, and my hydration is better. I had no pain during the recovery and my incisions are healing beautifully. I can finally give people deep hugs without implants being in the way. I traveled from Massachusetts to Austin, Texas for this, and it completely changed my life.

What are the results of the Holistic Accelerated Recovery Program (HARP)?
