The interview

What were you seeking before you started working with Greg and Qiveda?

I was seeking something new that I didn't have. I was doing a lot of yoga, and I was seeking something that was a meditative practice but was also deeply embodied. Oftentimes when I'd meditate I would be very much in my mind or in spirit body and not really grounded and connected to the earth. When I'm doing yoga, it was maybe a little bit more fitness. So I was really seeking a modality that fused the two.

Why did you decide to work with Greg specifically?

I decided to work with Greg because he really embodied the essence and energy of something that I thought I wanted to cultivate more of. When I heard and learned about Qigong, I didn't Google, I didn't research, I didn't look for other teachers. I committed to the practice the way that Greg learned it from his master, and so I really surrendered into his modality.

How has the practice integrated into your daily life?

Once I started doing the practice, it became more effortless to incorporate it into my daily life because the results are undeniable. Ten to 15 minutes took my workout and my meditation and put it into one. Days with Qigong are noticeably different than days without.

What physical and emotional changes have you noticed?

I feel very embodied and very connected to my body, aware of all the different muscles and parts. What I'm doing now that I wasn't doing before is having a greater mastery around my emotions and how I respond to the world. I'm responding more in alignment with how I want to be and less reactive to any stimuli, whether it's awesome, challenging, or sad.

What would you say to someone considering Qiveda?

I would recommend Greg; he's real, genuine, and embodies joy and playfulness with a very traditional practice. It is ancient wisdom combined with real-world application. Don't second guess yourself. Just do it. Commit to the practice and you will be awed and amazed with the results.

Frequently asked

Is it difficult to maintain a daily Qigong practice?

While Cassandra notes that ongoing discipline can be a challenge, she finds the practice 'effortless' to incorporate because the results are undeniable. She states that days with Qigong are noticeably different than days without it.

What kind of emotional changes can I expect from Qiveda?

Cassandra reports gaining a greater mastery over her emotions and how she responds to the world. The practice allows for a 'pause' between stimulus and response, making her less reactive to challenging or sad situations.
