The interview
What is your perspective on the future of in-person events?
In-person events are going to be the future. Especially with artificial intelligence being as amazing and incredible as it is, information today is becoming increasingly obsolete. What I think people are really looking for now is connection. Alex clearly runs events at a standard that is just above what anybody is doing in the industry.
Why did you decide to become a sponsor for this event?
Events have been something that I've always been really curious about, and I've been wanting to run them for a really long time, but never have really taken the leap to do so. I'm also in a stage in my business where I've been evolving my messaging, my promise, and who I work with. That requires me to be in new spaces with new leads.
What was the immediate impact of being a sponsor on your brand?
My business's brand has definitely crystallized as a result of sponsoring one of Alex's events. Just by signing up for it, I had to crystallize things. I was committing to this thing, so now I need to make sure that I have the right branding. It forced me to have the right branding and new messaging.
How did the opportunity to speak on stage affect your results?
Alex gave the sponsors the opportunity to have two minutes on stage. I know that doesn't sound like it's a lot, but the two minutes on stage made all the difference. After I had that two-minute message on stage, I had people flooding me, asking me questions, wanting to get to know me.
What specific lead and connection numbers did you achieve?
In the first two days, I just calculated it out. I acquired five 1-on-1 client leads and three collaboration leads in terms of coming and speaking at other people's events. Also, overall, together I've made 20 high-quality connections. I've never been to an event where I've made that many high-quality connections in such a short period of time.
How would you describe the support team and culture?
The support team at Alex's event has been really responsive and they clearly are really aligned on the purpose of his events. The culture that they've built and the service here has been amazing.
