The interview

What attracted you to Denver Vitalist Medicine?

The one thing I liked what she was offering was more natural. I didn't wanna go on pharmaceuticals. I'd been to doctors, they didn't have any answers. She just seemed to have an answer for me to clean up and detoxify everything and get it fixed. To learn how to be more natural and healthier lifestyle as well is kind of what attracted me 'cause I knew it needed to be long-term.

What health issues were you struggling with before starting?

I have always grown up with gut issues, like different various stomach pains and heartburns and issues, and then it kind of came to a head in fall of 2024. I got a bad case of diverticulitis, and it never really kind of went away, and I still had bad heartburn, and I always told my husband my guts hurt. I felt heavy and bloated and just knew something wasn't right.

What was your experience with traditional medical answers?

A while ago, when I was having... Well, at first they thought it was a heart attack, but it ended up being my esophagus. Doctor put me on, like, a heartburn medicine, but there was no answer. I'd say, 'Well, what now?' At that point I was in my mid-thirties, and I didn't wanna be on medications for the rest of my life to control that.

How did you feel before your first appointment with Dr. Townsend?

I just remember sitting in her office feeling desperate that I'm in so much pain and so bloated, and I didn't know what, what else to do. But I also knew going to her office that this wasn't gonna be inexpensive, and at that point I just figured it's time for me to invest in my health rather than just keep living that way and wasting money elsewhere.

What was the treatment process like?

What surprised me the most was probably how simple it was. It was a simple process to follow. It was still using natural foods, and it was adding some natural supplements. It takes a lot of being able to change some old habits and build some new ones, but she helps with just to work through what's holding you back on making those changes.

How did Dr. Townsend support you through the changes?

I really felt supported by her outreach and checking in with phone calls or office visits when I needed it. If there was some mental blocks, she suggested journaling, and she had a lot of journal videos to help me get past some of those things. She even suggested where to find certain products, like a grounding mat, and helped me learn how to sleep better.

How has your life changed since completing the program?

My life now is... it's freer. My pain is gone. I don't have the gut issues every day that I had. I'm not living with the heartburn. I'm not living with the bloating. I'm not living with just the pain, and that was the biggest to me to just live pain-free was huge. Now I make a conscious choice on what I wanna eat and what I wanna drink because I know what it's gonna do.

I felt heavy and bloated and just knew something wasn't right. And I saw a Facebook post from Dr. Towsend about webinar to learn more, so my husband and I sat and watched it, and then I made an appointment to see her to see if there was something she could do to help me get over all this pain that I was feeling. A while ago, when I was having... Well, at first they thought it was a heart attack, but it ended up being my esophagus. Doctor put me on, like, a heartburn medicine, but there was no answer. I'd say, "Well, what now?" At that point I was in my mid-thirties, and I didn't wanna be on medications for the rest of my life to control that. Then I was always searching the internet for some answers, anything to try to clean it up and detoxify it, and I just got tired of trying or researching different kind of supplements or digestives, probiotics that didn't work. But both my husband and I were like, "It's time." What surprised me the most was probably how easy it was, or simple. Should I say simple? 'Cause easy, I had to change some lifestyle habits, so that takes some work, but it was a simple process to follow. It was still using natural foods, and it was adding some natural supplements. I think Dr. Towsend can really understand your issues, and she can see what's causing a block, whether it's some past traumas or bad habits, and she's very open and honest about what you need to do to fix that and that it will be a lifestyle change. It's not a quick fix. It's not a temporary fix. It's changing your lifestyle, and I like that about her. She's pretty good at that. If you're on the fence about whether this is something you wanna do or not, I do think it's really worth your time and investment to become a healthier person for the long term and live a longer, healthier, more vital life.
